Travel & Tours

Is there a better way to understand International Relations than through travel?  Meeting different people and immersing one’s self in a foreign culture promotes true understanding and empathy for another country and its people.

CIR typically sponsors one trip per year to a foreign country.  This is a unique opportunity to travel with like-minded people, many of whom have had broad foreign experience and still seek to expand their understanding of the world through travel.

Trips include, when possible, briefings at our U.S. Embassies and visits with former participants of the international visitor program who have previously visited Santa Fe.  The latter is particularly rewarding as it gives nationals an opportunity to show their culture and environment to those of us who have shown them ours.  These cultural exchanges might not be available when traveling alone or in small, unaffiliated groups.

In 2007, a CIR group traveled to Bolivia.  A trip to Turkey is scheduled for September 2008.  A trip to Argentina and Patagonia is being planned for January 2009.

June-September 2009 to Indonesia

We will be planning a new trip for later in the year, sometime between June and September. to Indonesia, Java, Bali, Komodo, and Sulawesi (Celebes).  This will be a very exciting trip at a good price.  Steve Kutay, who’s planning the trip, knows the area pretty well.
