Travel & Tours
Is there a better way to understand International Relations than through travel? Meeting different people and immersing oneself in a foreign culture promotes true understanding and empathy for another country and its people.
CIR typically sponsors one trip per year to a foreign country. This is a unique opportunity to travel with like-minded people, many of whom have had broad foreign experience and still seek to expand their understanding of the world through travel.
Trips include, when possible, briefings at our U.S. Embassies and visits with former participants of the international visitor program who have previously visited Santa Fe. The latter is particularly rewarding as it gives nationals an opportunity to show their culture and environment to those of us who have shown them ours. These cultural exchanges might not be available when traveling alone or in small, unaffiliated groups.

Lying just below the Equator, Indonesia is warm all year round.
Indonesia is one of the most interesting and varied countries in the world. It is also one of the largest countries in the world–both in size and population–and includes such fabled islands as Java, Bali, Sumatra, Borneo and New Guinea. Indonesia is also the largest Muslim country in the world. Consisting of over 3,000 islands with hundreds of languages, it stretches from East to West over an area wider than the United States. When people used to speak of the South Sea Islands, they were referring to present-day Indonesia.
Yet, Indonesia is not widely known to Americans. This luxury tour takes in what are arguably the three most spectacular islands in Indonesia - Java, Sulawesi and Bali. You will see the famous temples of Central Java-Borobudur and Prambanan-the Toraja cliff-side graves and effigies of Sulawesi, and the island jewel of Bali, with its lush tropical scenery and still-traditional ancient Hindu lifestyle.
In Bali you stay at the world-famous Kupu Kupu Spa Resort for 4 nights and then transfer to the Luxury Collection Laguna on Nusa Dua Beach for the last 3 nights of your stay. You will enjoy upgraded room categories in each of these hotels.
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
15 nights accommodations in four 5-star hotels and one 4-star hotel, all airport transfers, all tour-related road travel, private professional English-speaking tour guide, all breakfasts, lunches most days and 3 Dinners. In Bali: Choice of Sea Safari Cruise or Thalasso Spa Treatment, all admissions to sites, temples, dances, all taxes.
WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED:
Additional meals, tips, drinks and beverages. Any Spa Treatments other than Thalasso Session described below and International and Domestic Airfares. Domestic airfares are not included on this tour because the prices can vary quite a bit. Rather than overcharge or undercharge by estimating, we feel it is better for you to pay the actual amounts for the domestic flights at the time they are booked. (Domestic airfares are currently estimated at around $300 per person total for all three flights of this tour.)
*The price is based on attracting a group of at least 8 people. If there are fewer than 8 the price would go up a little and if there are more than 11 the price would go down by $100 per person. Prices are per person based on double occupancy.
