MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

I have had the extraordinary privilege of serving as CIR President in 2007 and 2008.  During this time, CIR has strived to reflect in its many and varied programs and activities the changing international landscape for America.

Our focus has been—and continues to be—hosting hundreds of International Visitor Leaders selected by the U.S. State Department to come to Santa Fe; delivering high-quality, mission-consistent programs; expanding CIR’s educational outreach to Santa Fe’s high school and college students; diversifying and strengthening our membership; developing CIR’s financial strength; and enhancing CIR’s value to Santa Fe.

All of this we do to fulfill the mandate of our mission which is:

To enhance awareness of, broaden community interest in, and promote the understanding of international issues and cultural affairs. Our vision is a community that is knowledgeable of, interested in, and engaged in world affairs.

In 2008, I look forward to working closely with CIR’s committed and talented Directors and host of volunteers to build the resources and capacity of CIR to solidify a robust future for our 43-year-old organization.  As such, I welcome and encourage our Members to contact me with their ideas to help us create an organization that continues to reflect the interests of our Membership as we go forward.
